Apple has finally built a proper smart home display. On October 13, 2026, the company announced Apple HomeView, a 7-inch touchscreen hub priced at $299, along with a refreshed Apple TV 4K and a new HomePod mini 2. There was no live keynote this time. As MacRumors noted, Apple skipped a traditional event and released its videos and press materials instead. Here’s what actually matters for buyers.
What Is Apple HomeView?
HomeView is Apple’s first dedicated smart home hub. It has a 7-inch square Liquid Retina display attached to a domed speaker base with a stainless steel hinge, so the screen can tilt toward you on a kitchen counter, desk or bedside table, according to 9to5Mac. It works as a control panel for your Home app, and also handles FaceTime calls, music, calendars and reminders.
Apple says HomeView can recognize up to six people in a home and personalize what each person sees, as reported by MacRumors’ HomeView roundup. Siri AI is built in, which Apple presents as the thread tying all three new products together.
Apple HomeView Specs at a Glance
Based on Apple’s official specifications page, the display is 7 inches with a 1088 by 1088 pixel resolution at 220 ppi, plus True Tone and a brightness range from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits. That very low minimum makes it suitable as a nightstand clock. It runs on an A18 chip, and the speaker setup uses two custom full-range drivers with Spatial Audio support.
The tabletop version comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray. A wall-mounted version, with the same display, comes in space gray and silver, as Cult of Mac reports.
Apple HomeView Price and Release Date
HomeView costs $299 in the US and £299 in the UK. The wall-mounted model has the same starting price, but Tom’s Guide points out that it needs a mount and a power solution, so the real cost can end up higher. Pre-orders opened on October 13, and the first deliveries are scheduled for November 13.
The New Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2
The updated Apple TV 4K now runs on the A19 chip and adds microphones, so you can talk to Siri without picking up the remote, plus Wi-Fi 7. It costs $299, which Engadget notes is $100 more than the model it replaces. The new Siri Remote is sold separately at $59, per MacRumors. It ships on November 13.
The HomePod mini 2 costs $149, uses an S10 chip, and arrives in new colors. Paired with the new Apple TV 4K, it can form a four-speaker surround setup that calibrates itself to your room, as Digital Trends describes. It is the first to arrive, with setup starting October 30.
| Product | Price (US) | Chip | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple HomeView | $299 | A18 | November 13 |
| Apple TV 4K (2026) | $299 | A19 | November 13 |
| HomePod mini 2 | $149 | S10 | October 30 |
The Catch With Siri AI on HomePod mini 2
Apple is marketing Siri AI across the whole lineup, but there’s a detail worth checking before you buy the speaker. MacRumors reports that Apple says the HomePod mini 2 won’t support Siri AI right away. Apple hasn’t been fully specific about the timing in the coverage we reviewed, so if Siri AI is your main reason for buying, wait for confirmation or for early reviews.
Our Honest Take
HomeView at $299 is a sensible first attempt. It sits below the $349 full-size HomePod, and it does more than a speaker. If you already live in the Apple ecosystem and use the Home app daily, it makes sense, and pre-ordering is low risk since nothing ships until mid-November. The Apple TV 4K is harder to recommend. A $100 price jump for better Siri support and a faster chip is a tough sell unless you really want voice control on your TV. The HomePod mini 2 at $149 is the safest pick, but only once the Siri AI situation is clear.
One more thing: Apple also showed connected accessories from LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, including cameras, a smart lock and climate controls, so HomeView has a few partner devices to control from day one.
